Okay so, this outfit suffers the same fault as Issus’ design. The longline top and the shorts just don’t make it look akin to a jumpsuit. This outfit doesn’t completely fall flat, I think the jacket was a good move but I hate those bag straps with it, and it’s not enough to redeem this. It’s just very average to me compared to some of the other outfits this week.
Conclusion
Congratulations Rotisary for your first task win. You created a stunning design that we thought worthy of a top position amongst all other designs this week. We are saddened to see Lidl-Wayne depart, as she was unable to successfully compete on the runway. Thanks everyone.
Jump into Action

Welcome to Week 1 designers; this season we are grateful to recognize some influential and upcoming artists, who are sure to impress. To bring the competition to an even playing field, this first task is created to show your style and personality through design.
We ask you to create an original denim jumpsuit or playsuit. These suits have been around for decades, spanning across various styles and fashion. The rules are simple, incorporate either one shade of blue, or multiple into the actual denim; creating a cohesive suit from torso to leg. Your shoes and accessories can be any colour you wish to show your individuality. Most important, we want to see your personality show through your outfit. Good luck designers.

This design has flaws that I can’t overlook in relation to this task. We asked to see a denim playsuit; with a continuous correlation between the torso and legs. I don’t feel like you successfully achieved that. The apron covers up way too much of the design, and in doing so makes the pant legs at the bottom become jumbled, making it look more of a dress. I asked to see this design without the scarf, a clear indicator that I didn’t love it. I think the only use you had for it this week was to cover up the lines the apron made. The use of a neutral gray shoe was a smart choice, it didn’t overpower the denim of the design. Overall I wish you would have used smarter design choices this week. Thanks.

I don’t hate this, but I’m not enthusiastic about this outfit at all. I enjoy the colour gradation from the top to bottom and that scarf blending into the top is a nice detail. The biggest glaring problem of this outfit is that apron. It shatters the illusion of a jumpsuit and I just really dislike it. I really wished you used something else or just removed it entirely. This outfit will probably net you safety, but I am sort of left disappointed.

This is an interesting take on denim, though I can differentiate the patterns; making it look less cohesive, the belt ties it all back in and makes it uniform. This is a refreshing design that speaks to exactly what I was looking for this week. Keeping true to the designer, letting personality show and most importantly following the task. The use of the black shoe may have been a bit drastic, as it draws your eyes from the main focus of the design. Overall a solid design. Thanks.

I really applaud the metal pants choice – it’s a bold move for the first task. It’s bizarre yet I think it replicates an acid-wash denim which I enjoy. However I’m left a sort of underwhelmed with the rest. I think too many of the textures clash with each other. My main issue is the top you chose, for me it doesn’t work with the rest of the outfit. I appreciate the risk you took this week but I don’t think it completely paid off.
Fiona
The textures you played with in designing the playsuit are cliched but mixed with the capri style pant, it works wonders. You picked an appropriate shade of blue that hides unwanted lines, transitioning from the torso to belt to bottom. The black jacket hugs the design and mixed with the dark blue, it doesn’t over power. I think the only fault in this would be the cutout you did in the bodice. Matched with the skintone, I can see where you were headed but I think keeping this clean or maybe using black instead would have played a bit better with this task. Good job.

The layout of this outfit is so aesthetically pleasing. The subtle hints of pattern coming through is great and the use of denim I like. The nude shoes and black jacket were a wise choice as they bring the outfit together as a fully realised design. I think the illusion of the skin is what lets you down – I think this outfit would have fared much better if it was rid of it. Additionally, I hate those earrings. Nevertheless this is a good design and I’m expecting good from you.

The unconventional use of the scarf was interesting to see, it gave off a cluster of fabric I haven't seen used before. That being said, mixed with the dark blue top, it all formed into a misshapen and top heavy design. If you were to have changed the denim of the playsuit to a lighter blue it might have played off better. Your saving grace was the use of the pants with those pumps. It created a silhouette that remained very sophisticated. I think overall you balanced your design with features that are to be admired and things you can improve on. Not a bad job at all this week.
Calum
I’m impressed by this. It has its flaws but I think it has a lot going for it. The use of the two scarves really adds a lot of character to an otherwise simple outfit, and I’m glad you separated the colour of the scarf with the jumpsuit itself. I don’t like the little dashes of yellow however, I think it distracts from the design which is lovely otherwise. I would also use another belt. You’ve done well this week.

Had you somehow incorporated that horizontal pattern from the top into the bottom, this would have been a top look for me this week. I really admire the curves and practical denim usage you incorporated into this. From the darker jacket to the lighter jumpsuit. This is a uniformed design. I wish the orange you used was a different colour, especially since you added it onto the jacket, I couldn’t stop looking at it. Maybe drawing my attention from the main focus of this week's task. Overall a safe design. Looking forward to seeing you kick it up a notch.

My favourite part of this design is the subdued colour palette, the shades of blue you chose and that peach work really well. I’m glad you kept that peach to a minimum as it doesn’t overpower the rest. There’s a clear balance there. The choice of using the denim vest seems obvious, but you’ve managed to integrate it well with the rest of your outfit. However I’m not exactly that blown away or anything – this is a good outfit but it’s nothing spectacular.

This is in my opinion the best elevated jumpsuit we’ve seen this week. The pattern you turned out in the torso is awe inspiring. I can’t stop looking at it. I think you exemplified the task and created a design that focused solely on the suit itself. The hues of blue intertwined create an amazing play of illusion; rippling down the body. Tied in with a simple short, this is exactly what I was looking for this week. The nude shoe played off of your skin tone, making it seem very organic. Overall a very smart design this week. Great job.
Calum
I love the layering of this outfit so much. The draping in the center, the two shades of blue you used. The whole center of this outfit is really cool and the nude shoes are a perfect addition. However the jacket being the same colour as the rest does swamp this outfit a little, but I still love it. Sure this outfit isn’t incredibly inventive, but the execution is swell and does this task perfect justice, great job!

This confuses me, too many layers piled on one another. I don’t feel like the task was relevant to you in your design decisions this week. I can vaguely see where your jumpsuit started and where it ended. Not only that but the colours you chose to highlight certain features were cliched and muddled together. The new age of habbo fashion seems to want to pile as many accessories onto a design to create illusions. If you’re smart at doing them then go ahead, but being lazy will send you home. The most interesting design choice would be the yellow straps around your arms. Not a very good representation of the task this week. Thanks.
Calum
I don’t really understand this – sorry but I’ve grown to dislike it. You’ve overwhelmed your design too much with unnecessary parts. I don’t like the placement of the red because it completely disrupts the flow of the top to the bottom. The mustard / ketchup combination is just wrong. The top, belt and pant combo is also giving me serious sense of déjà vu as I’ve seen it everywhere and it just doesn’t do anything for me. This outfit just doesn’t excite me.

I commend you for using a vibrant denim. This is a crafty design, the ruffles in the top are gorgeous. The silhouette is very form fitting and it ties in beautifully at the waist. I don’t think you missed a step at making this a very practical design this week. The gold is giving a punch of colour that is definitely worth looking at. Nice attention to detail and colouring. Thanks.

Jo-zing-a. This is a fab design. I wasn’t that impressed when I first saw it, but having more time has helped me appreciate it. That ruffle effect you’ve created is so lovely, it provides an elegance I really like even with the hard bottom. Everything just goes together really nicely. I can’t say I love that orange with that blue for this task – but the palette still works regardless. Overall I think you’ve done a great job this week.

I can definitely see your personality in this design, the minimalistic approach is refreshing. You didn’t want to detract from the main focus of this task, you showed a design that correlated directly to what we wanted. The colour you used was to portray the denim was subtle enough that we were able to see the smaller details within the design. The linear aspect connecting the bodice to the belt are amazing. Thanks.
Calum
Arber going minimal, what a surprise. Shocking. The outfit and the fact I really love this. The blue shade you chose, the chunky brown boots. The way the colour of those lines invert from the top and the belt is so gorgeous. It flows so seamlessly and I love it. You’ve really shown you never need to go all out to create something of substance. However I’m going to be that bitch and I wish you used longer pants and it would make this outfit perfect, to balance the top and the bottom better. Regardless I’m really impressed so good job this week.

This is stunning. I love the use of patterns you mixed in the chest to create this abstracted design. The white of the top matching the glasses is a subtle way of tying the whole piece together. I can see the clear direction you were going for in creating your suit. Very playful and nautical. The red weaving through, is art. I don’t have a negative thing to say about this. Great job.
Calum
I’ve never seen you design before, and I’m head over heels for this outfit. Everything looks meticulously thought out and that crimson with the blue is so pleasing. The way this outfit has a sort of geometric construction, and still maintains a flow from top to bottom. The white lines are so intricate and to put it simply I find the center of this outfit beautiful. I don’t have much else to say I love this so much. Amazing job.

This is a polar opposite of what I expected from anyone this season. I don’t see the practicality in this design whatsoever. I see cut outs and layered fabrics that hardly make sense. There are no other colours here to break up what i’m seeing; it’s all jumbled together to create a rather distasteful silhouette. I appreciate the risk of maybe attempting to wow (someone) with this lackadaisical design; but it won’t be me. Thanks.
Calum
This outfit is a complete mess. It’s absurd in every sense of the word. My first issue is that this doesn’t really fit the idea of a jumpsuit. The bow is ridiculous and so are the earphones. The top is just so mismatched and there is way too many things going on. I’m sorry but I don’t have much else to say because I can’t salvage a positive aspect from this look. The white shoes are cute I suppose.

Visually this design meets expectations, it has the cohesiveness that I was anticipating from most designers this week. Though this could have been executed a little more seamlessly, it’s still a solid design. I think the use of the top was very inventive, I would have preferred maybe a different bottom; those pants are hard to use and the practicality washes away when you try and match them with other fabrics and elements in the design. Maybe a simple block pant would have created a cleaner appearance, and a belt with brown on it to match the one in the top. Overall a good effort. Thanks.
Calum
There’s something raw and simple about this design that I enjoy. I think your outfit looks the most like a real jumpsuit. That top creates such a lovely texture whilst your bottom half is quite loose and the combination is a little jarring, but I just think it works great. However I’m not a big fan of the brown stripe – or those ugly shoes for that matter. Don’t get me wrong though I think you’ve done well this week and I think this outfit represents your aesthetic perfectly, so it’s a job well done.

This is one of the more simple designs this week, I wish you would have added a belt to blend the two major elements of your outfit. The use of the aquamarine to highlight accessories was a good one. The major flaw with this would be the hat and veil. Totally unnecessary, and I feel you could have revamped this design to the next level with a little bit more creativity. A very safe design this week.
Calum
I want to like this outfit but I just can’t. That veil and the hat do you zero favours, they are both completely unnecessary. The actual base outfit I also feel is kind of basic looking, I think removing the scarf and using some sort of belt would have greatly helped you achieve a more cohesive look. The turquoise is alright against the blue, it doesn’t do much for me however. Neither does this look – it’s kind of subpar.

The layering is over used. I think in relation to the task you strayed a little bit. The use of the long shirt, made this design stretched. It doesn’t sit well, when the major focus in this week's task was to create a playsuit, I can see the lines and I definitely don’t see what I wanted. The use of the dark blue with the black is complimentary, they blend well; maybe a different coloured jacket would have played well with the design. I hope to see some more out-of-the-box thinking from you this season. Thanks.
